Delivery Driver

The delivery driver position is a part-time, year-round position. Tasks include loading orders, delivering produce to local restaurants and CSA pickup locations, driving safely, working efficiently, and being courteous to our customers. This job requires an industrious and trustworthy person who can stay focused and alert. Driving and customer service experience are a big plus. This is a job for a responsible, independent person who likes to be on the road and isn't afraid of driving a box truck/delivery van in city traffic.

Hours/Schedule

June – November:

  • Tuesdays and Fridays 6am-4:30pm (restaurants)

  • Wednesdays 7:30am-4:30pm (CSA deliveries)

Hours may vary based on order volume and weather (Average: 25–30 hours/week).

Additional on-farm hours available for interested candidates.

Some schedule flexibility is required to accommodate seasonal demands.

Position Period: Flexible start and end date, must be able to start by May 15th and work through November 30th.

    • Starting wage: $20.02 - Living wage plus $1.50 driving premium (Our starting minimum wage is based on the Living Wage calculated for a household with 2 working adults, no children in the Portland Metro Area)

Roles and Responsibilities

Driving & Deliveries:

  • Safely load, unload, and drive a large box truck confidently.

  • Deliver orders accurately following an assigned route schedule.

  • Complete pre-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues.

Order Management & Customer Service:

  • Sort, organize, check, and load orders for delivery.

  • Deliver CSA shares following established practices and procedures.

  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers.

  • Answer basic customer questions or refer to appropriate staff.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Collect payments and receipts for deliveries.

  • Report any quality or order discrepancies to farm owners.

  • Keep delivery vehicle clean and report maintenance needs.

  • Provide constant communication regarding issues throughout the day.

General Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Valid standard driver’s license (no commercial license required).

  • Clean driving record.

  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Working cell phone for communication.

  • Commitment to the full season (May–November).

Physical Demands:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.

  • Work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, snow, etc.).

  • Be responsive to feedback from supervisors and co-workers.

  • Work well as part of a team-oriented environment.

  • Ask for clarification when instructions are unclear.

Training & Check-ins

  • The first month of employment will include a training period with regular check-ins to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

  • Supervisors will provide structured feedback and support to help new hires meet performance expectations.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience driving large delivery-type vehicles.

  • GPS-enabled smartphone.

  • Customer service experience (strong interpersonal skills & positive attitude).

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Additional Important Qualities:

  • Interest in local food or farming.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with coworkers and customers.

  • Works well independently with minimal supervision.

  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate challenges.
