Full-Time Farm Crew
Seeking two passionate, hardworking, and detail-oriented people to join our farm crew for the 2025 season. Ideal candidates should enjoy physical labor, possess a strong interest in food and farming, and appreciate working as part of a team. Our farm crew is the heart of our farm and crew members participate in all areas of vegetable production from transplanting, weeding and crop care to harvesting, washing and packing. The farm crew position can be tailored to fit applicants' interests with opportunities to take on lead roles and responsibilities as the season progresses. For interested applicants there may also be opportunities to participate in our pasture-based livestock operation which includes pigs, chickens and goats.

Hours/Schedule
Hours typically range from 40-50 hours per week during peak season (June-October). As an agricultural employer, overtime rates apply after 48 hours per week.
May (Spring Schedule):
Tuesday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
June - September (Main Season):
Monday/Thursday: 7:00am - 4:30pm
Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday: 7:00am - 3:30pm
October - November (Fall Schedule):
Monday/Thursday: 8:00am - 5:30pm
Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Off Tuesday - Friday of Thanksgiving week
Position Period: Flexible start and end date, must be able to start by May 15th and work through November 30th.
2025 Compensation & Benefits
Base Pay:
Starting wage: $18.52/hour (Our starting minimum wage is based on the Living Wage calculated for a household with 2 working adults, no children in the Portland Metro Area)
Performance bonus (paid at season end)
Cost of Living Annual raise for returning employees (we use the CPI to estimate COLA)

Roles and Responsibilities
Our work follows a consistent weekly rhythm during the main season:
Harvest days (2-3 per week): Proper harvest and handling of diverse crops
Field days: Transplanting, weeding, and crop maintenance
CSA pack days: Building boxes and preparing orders
Project days: Infrastructure maintenance and seasonal tasks
Specific responsibilities include:
Proper harvest and post-harvest handling of a large variety of vegetable crops
Communicating general crop health or other observations made while harvesting to harvest manager
Packing CSA boxes, market produce and restaurant orders
Transplanting both mechanically and by hand
Weed control
Crop care – trellising, season extension, pest and disease management
Cleaning and maintenance of facilities and grounds
Various odd jobs (ditch digging, brush cutting, cleaning equipment and supplies, assisting with delivery driving if needed)
Seasonal projects (re-skinning greenhouses, care of existing infrastructure and facilities, light carpentry work)
As part of their role, each crew member takes on a lead responsibility in one area of the farm, such as packing shed, a specific harvest crew (salad, greens, herbs etc), CSA pack, or specific crop management (cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, summer squash). This allows crew members to develop expertise while contributing to the farm's overall success.

General Requirements
Essential Requirements:
Have reliable transportation and arrive with enough time (at least 10 minutes early) to change into work gear and be ready to start at shift time.
Commit to working the full season (May 15 - November 30, 2025)
Be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, snow)
Have a working cell phone for farm communications
Follow detailed food safety and workplace protocols

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
One season full-time production vegetable farming experience or equivalent
Ability to lift 35 lbs repeatedly
