100% GRASS FED LAMB SHARES OPEN FOR 2021
The Lambs
This season we are very excited to be offering pasture-raised lamb shares from our farm. We raise Katahdin sheep which are known for their superb flavor and ability to thrive on pasture. We practice intensive rotational grazing on farm, moving our animals to fresh paddocks every 3-4 days. Although labor intensive, these quick rotations support healthier animals and pastures on our farm and you will love the rich flavor of our lamb!
how to purchase
We are offering both half and whole lamb shares this season, and a deposit of $150 for a whole or $75 for a half will reserve your share. The cost of a lamb share consists of two payments, one to the farm and one to the butcher. The price of each share paid to the farm is $7/lb. hanging weight and is determined by the final hanging weight of the lamb at harvest. The farm receives the payment for the hanging weight (minus your deposit) plus payment for slaughter and disposal and the butcher receives the cutting and wrapping fees.
Our lambs are scheduled to be harvested late October – early November. All of our animals are harvested here on our farm and never transported to a slaughterhouse! The week of your designated harvest date you will work with our butcher to decide how you want your lamb cut and wrapped. Your hanging weight bill with be determined at harvest and paid to the farm. And your butchering bill will be paid to the butcher and based on your decisions about how you want your lamb processed.
