Goats Milk Soap Making

Date: November 5th

Time:10am-3pm

Location: Flying Coyote Farm, Sandy OR

Instructor: Lili Tova & Jme Holub

Tuition: $125 + $15 materials fee

This basic soap making class will teach you everything you need to get started making your own goat’s milk soaps at home using the traditional cold process method. We will cover how to safely use and handle caustic lye and the basic principles of the saponification process. Next we will discuss basic techniques for successful milk-based soap making including different oil properties, lye calculators, temperature, pH, curing, and additives (exfoliants, colorants, dried herbs and essential oils). We will demo making a batch of goat’s milk soap using the above information and then students will work with a partner to make their own small batch of soap to take home with you to cure!

You will leave with a bar of finished soap, a list of basic goat’s milk based recipes and a purchase list of everything you need to get started.

A simple lunch will be provided, please pack a water bottle and wear comfortable, farm-appropriate clothing & footwear. You will receive an email with directions to Flying Coyote Farm and more info a week prior to the workshop.
